Abstract Deadlines & Approvals:

ORAL PRESENTATIONS
For those submitting an abstract who would like to be considered for oral presentations at the 2023 MDA Clinical & Scientific Conference, highest priority will be given to those who submit abstracts on or before October 31, 2022. Final deadline for oral presentation consideration is December 31, 2022. Abstracts not selected for oral presentations will automatically qualify for the poster presentation.  POSTER SESSION

For those submitting an abstract only as a poster submission at the 2023 MDA Clinical & Scientific Conference abstracts must be submitted on or before December 31, 2022.

Poster Session Options

• Options to present In-Person, Virtually or both

• In-Person – posters will be viewable in the conference exhibit hall on the evening of Sunday, March 19^th through the evening of Tuesday, March 21^st. Dedicated poster session times will be as follows*:

Sunday, March 19
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM CT

Monday, March 20
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM CT

Tuesday, March 21
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM CT

*All times are subject to change.

• Virtual – posters will be viewable on the virtual platform beginning Sunday, March 19^th through Tuesday, March 21^st.  After the conference concludes, posters will be viewable to all attendees for a 12-month period, expiring in March 2024.

• NEW THIS YEAR: Touchscreens will be placed in the poster section of the exhibit hall throughout the conference, so in-person attendees can view virtual posters that are not being presented in-person.

 Abstract Approvals

All abstracts submitted that fall within the categories will be approved to present as part of our in-person and virtual poster hall, Sunday, March 19, 2023, through Tuesday, March 21, 2023.  If you plan to present your poster in person, we strongly recommend registering for conference prior to December 31, 2022 to take advantage of the early bird registration deadline.

Oral Presentation Approvals

Abstracts submitted for oral presentations will be reviewed starting the week of October 31, 2022.  Acceptance notifications of an abstract for oral presentation will be sent to the submitter starting approximately November 28, 2022, and conclude by December 15, 2022. We recommend once you’ve received a notification of your abstract being selected for an oral presentation, you register for the in person conference before the early bird registration deadline of December 31, 2022.

Abstracts selected for oral presentation submitted between November 1 and December 31, 2022 will be notified no later than January 21, 2023.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

The first author (presenting author) will receive all future correspondence from MDA regarding the abstract. Abstract titles should be 150 characters including spaces. Abstract body should not exceed 300 words.

Authors may submit abstracts on the following categories in neuromuscular disease (NMD) research and care:

• Pre-Clinical Research
• Translational Research
• Clinical Trials
• Clinical Management
• Other

2023 Late-Breaking Abstract Guidelines

Late breaking abstracts for particularly high-profile projects will be considered for oral presentations via MDA’s late breaking abstract portal starting on January 18, 2023 – February 15, 2023. Submissions past this final deadline will not be accepted with no exceptions.

Late-breaking abstracts must not have been presented, accepted for presentation, or published at any other scientific meeting or journal at the time of submission and must contain data that was only made available after the December 31,2022 abstract submission deadline. Some oral presentation slots will be dedicated to late-breaking abstracts of high-impact.

2023 Abstract Print Guidelines

In Person Poster Guidelines:

• Poster size should be no greater than 36″ WIDE x 48″ HIGH (portrait orientation).
• You are responsible for printing and delivering your poster to your designated poster location
• In-person poster presenters are also encouraged to upload their posters to the virtual platform.

Virtual Poster Guidelines:

• Final submission can be via one-page PDF of your data. (PDF specs will be available soon!)
• All submissions must include the first name, last name, and email address of the author best suited to answer questions.
• QR codes may be included as part of your poster to direct viewers to a download of your poster.
• Final submission deadlines, PDF specifications and the submission process will be announced shortly

2023 MDA Embargo Policy

All abstracts accepted for the 2023 MDA Clinical & Scientific Conference will be available in the Abstract Library starting Tuesday, February 28, 2023*.

While authors may publish that their poster has been selected for inclusion in the conference program, data from the final poster presentation may not be shared in any form (print, broadcast or online publication, media release or conference presentation) prior to its official presentation at MDA Conference 2023 which will be Sunday, March 19, 2023, 6:00PM CST. Author(s) retains copyright of his or her abstract and poster.

Encores are permitted provided that: (i) copyright requirements from the initial conference are respected and (ii) prior presentations are disclosed.
